🪞 Our Mistakes
Where JMI has fallen short — recorded openly and without excuse. A movement that demands accountability from governments and institutions must practise it itself. This page exists because we mean it.
“Accountability is not a performance. If we only publish our wins, we are doing the same thing we criticise in those we challenge.”

Entries Being Compiled
As JMI reflects on its work, mistakes will be documented here — honestly, specifically, and with what was learnt from each one.
Why We Publish This
🔍To be honest with the communities we work with. Trust is built by showing the full picture, not a curated one.
📚To learn. Mistakes recorded honestly become lessons the whole movement can benefit from — not just the people who lived them.
🤝To model the standard we set for others. We cannot demand transparency from institutions if we withhold it from our own members.
🔄To improve. A mistake acknowledged and understood is a problem that can be fixed. One hidden is a problem waiting to recur.
What We Document
Campaigns that did not achieve their goalsWhat we set out to do, what happened instead, and what we understand now.
Organisational failuresWhere our structures, processes, or decisions fell short of our own standards.
Missed commitmentsPromises made to communities or members that we failed to keep — and why.
Unresolved tensionsInternal disagreements or contradictions we are still working through, honestly named.
